Godelieve MUKASARASI | From Survival To Governance

Godelieve Mukasarasi is a Rwandan peacebuil- der and the founder and president of SEVOTA,
an organization dedicated to supporting women and children affected by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Deeply shaped by the suffering she witnessed after the genocide, she committed her life to helping widows, survivors of sexual violence, and vulnerable children rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Through SEVOTA, she has led initiatives focused
on trauma healing, reconciliation, women’s empowerment, and community rebuilding across Rwanda. Under her leadership, many women have regained economic independence, become community leaders, and actively contributed to peace and social cohesion. Her work also promotes women’s rights, equality, and long-term peacebuil- ding through grassroots action and community dia- logue.
Recognized for her resilience, compassion, and leadership, Godelieve Mukasarasi continues to advocate for unity, justice, and collective healing, inspiring communities to transform pain into strength and social change.
