Rosette Nkundimfura | From Survival To Governance

Rosette Nkundimfura is the Founder
and Executive Director of the Girls Leaders
Forum (GLF), anorganization she established
in 2012 while serving as a student leader at university.

GLF operates across more than 20 universities and
10 high schools in Rwanda, focusing on empowering girls through leadership,sexual and reproductive health education, economic empowerment, and values-based development.
Through GLF, Rosette has contributed to the
transformation of many young women’s lives.
One notable example is a young woman she mentored who initially lacked confidence and did not believe she couldtake on leadership roles.

With guidance and encouragement, the young woman became a class representative, later rose to vice president of the student union, and eventually built a successful career asa journalist.
GLF addresses key challenges faced by girls and young women, including low self -esteem, lack of mentorship, economic dependence, and exposure to sexual exploitation and corruption.

The organization equips girls with leadership skills, confidence, and practical knowledge to navigate these challenges. Its core approach emphasizes raising girls who are “smart, strong, and spirited”, ensuring they areacademically capable, resilient, and able to advocate for themselves and others.
